Concordia Lutheran Ministries Golf Outing A Success
Cabot, PA – At the Third Annual Concordia Lutheran Ministries Golf Outing Monday, nearly $50,000 was raised for Concordia’s Capital Campaign “A Time To Build.”
The outing, held at Deer Run Golf Club in Gibsonia, played host to 148 golfers of all skill levels. At the top of the heap with a low net score of 64 was the foursome representing Alle-Kiski Medical Center, which consisted of George Sandora, Tim Finley, Jim Annett, and Vince Amendola.
Winning in the low gross category was the foursome representing Providence Pharmacy, which consisted of Marty Garda, Rich Zabinski, Richard Mottura, and Shawn Pityk. The team’s gross score was 71.
In addition to the round of golf, participants also enjoyed a banquet dinner, prize drawings, gift bags, and a boxed lunch.
There were five contest holes and a putting contest at the outing as well. At hole six, Mike Polosky from Efficient Energy won the closest to the pin contest, at eight, Richard Mottura from Providence Pharmacy won the closest to the pin contest, at 10, Dave Snyder from Snyder Brothers, Inc. won the straightest drive contest, at 12 Nathan Henry from Snyder Brothers, Inc. won the closest to the pin contest, and at 16, Randy Thornton from Efficient Energy won the final closest to the pin contest.
Henry also was closest to winning the putting contest after sinking a 30-foot putt. To win, a golfer needed to sink a 50-footer. All the contest hole winners received a $50 credit to the Deer Run Golf Club pro shop. There were no winners for the hole-in-one contests, for which the prizes included a 2006 Toyota Avalon, Dell Computers, Ben Hogan Irons, and $5000 cash.
Proceeds from the golf outing are being used to fund Concordia’s Lund Care Center Expansion, a $12.5 million dollar project that will open in October.
The expansion will double the current size of the Lund complex, adding 30 beds, a hydraulic physical therapy pool, and three “country kitchen” dining rooms, among other things. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Oct. 7.
