Full Schedule of Events in a New Location Planned for Concordia's Annual Festival

Cabot, PA – Scheduled for Sunday, July 29th from noon until 6 p.m. “under the tents” in the parking area behind the Lund Care Center, the traditional Festival will feature Rev. Albert B. Collver, Ph.D., Executive Pastoral Assistant for LCMS World Relief and Human Care who will conduct the worship service at 3 p.m.  Rev. Collver works with Rev. Matthew Harrison, who unfortunately, will be out of the country for this event.  Both have been to Africa for several mission trips.

A graduate of Concordia University in Ann Arbor with a B.A. in Biblical Languages, Rev. Collver entered Concordia Seminary, St. Louis and earned his Master of Divinity in 1997.  He continued his studies at the Seminary where he received his Master of Sacred Theology in 1991 followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in 2001.   

In addition, Concordia directors, Rev. Jamison Hardy, pastor at Our Savior, Mt. Lebanon and Rev. Barry Keurulainen, senior pastor at St. Luke, Cabot will participate as lectors and Chaplain Hartman who coordinated the service will be the liturgist.  A mass choir of members of our congregations and Haven residents has been invited to join the Pittsburgh Lutheran Chorus for the anthem under the direction of Ruth Miller.  All the bells on campus ring precisely at 3 p.m. as a call to worship. Dr. Harold Schnaible, resident in Haven I and organist at First Trinity in Oakland, will play the keyboards. 

Our chefs have created a special menu based on this year’s Country theme will be to be served under the main tent.  Hot dogs, ice cream and soft drink for those who wish a quick meal will be available under a separate smaller tent.  Entertainment including Dave’s Country Keyboards at 11:30, World of Children presenting “Signs of Peace” .  World of Children is a group of hearing children form Butler and surrounding areas who perform sign language to music promoting the message of peace, unity and hope for all children.  They performed in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with Barry Manilow and have performed in the Rotunda of our State Capitol.  The Campraise singers will precede the Festival Worship Service.  Following the Service, “The Jentz” Band, featuring one of Concordia’s employees, Ken Robeson, will be on stage until the event’s close at 6 p.m. 

Circle your calendar on July 29th and join the folks in Cabot to celebrate 126 years of providing care for God’s people.  Bring your friends and family.  All children age 10 and under are entitled to a free meal (not to exceed $4).
