Concordia Festival Entertains Over 500 Community Members, Residents

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries hosted its 126th summer festival this week, entertaining a crowd of over 500 behind the Lund Care Center on the Concordia at Cabot campus.

On a day filled with memorable highlights, Rev. Al Colvert’s message during the worship service stole the show.

Colvert was joined by LCMS pastors Barry Keurulainen (St. Luke), Jamison Hardy (Our Savior Lutheran), Herbert Schumm (St. John), Paul Rist (Ascension Lutheran) and Jack Hartman (Concordia chaplain). The service focused on the ups and downs Concordia has faced this year. One of Colvert’s key messages was that it often takes a tragedy to reaffirm one’s faith in God.

The weather held up wonderfully, setting the stage for the several entertainment acts, including Dave’s Country Keyboards, World of Children, the CamPraise singers, and local favorite, The Jentz (featuring Concordia employee Ken Robeson).

The Jentz performed a number of favorites, such as “Johnny B. Good,” “Unchained Melody,” and “Brown Eyed Girl,” among many others. Concordia at the Orchard Facility Director Robin Hipple also joined the band for a few country numbers.

Those that brought their appetite were treated to roast beef, hot dogs, parsley potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, pasta salad, caramel apple nut pie, strawberry Bavarian tart, and ice cream.
