Concordia Adult Day Services Wins Alzheimer's Grant

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Adult Day Services program was recently awarded a $5000 grant from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Director of Adult Day Services Paula Sypulski said the grant would be used primarily for several necessary renovations at the ADS location in the Lund Care Center, such as the addition of a new bathroom. The overall goal of these physical updates is to increase ADS’s license capacity.

“This grant is a testament to Concordia’s statement of values,” Sypulski said. “We always strive to constantly improve our community and organization.”

This is the second time ADS has received funds from the AFA. The first grant was used for the Montessori Based Dementia Programming training sessions and continued community programs. The cost of the May 18 workshop for caregivers is supplemented by this initial grant as well.

The AFA awards grants to its nonprofit member organizations twice a year so they can develop or enhance Alzheimer’s related services in the area. The competitive application process ensures that only credible organizations receive funding.

In a letter to Sypulski, Eric J. Hall, CEO of the AFA, said he looks forward to hearing about Concordia’s impact on families affected by Alzheimer’s and related illnesses.
