Adult Day Services at Concordia Lutheran Ministries Top Fundraisers in Butler County for Alzheimer's Association

Cabot, PA – For the second year in a row, the “Caring Hearts” team from Adult Day Services at Concordia Lutheran Ministries was the top fundraising team in Butler County for the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk at the Pittsburgh Zoo on Saturday, October 8th.

All year long, Paula Sypulski, Director of Adult Day Services, conducts a monthly “Blue Jean Friday” where participants are accessed a $3 fee that entitles them to dress casually and enter their name in a prize drawing.  A total of $3355 was raised which beat last year’s record.  

With adult day services, people with health problems, Alzheimer's disease, chronic illnesses, or physical disabilities are able to continue to live in the community while receiving professional services in a group setting. Involvement in an adult day care program can increase a senior's health, outlook, and chances of remaining in the community.

Open five days a week and licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, Concordia offers the following benefits:

• Assistance with eating, walking, toileting, medications, bathing and grooming
• Physical, speech, or occupational group therapies on site
• Daily activities and exercise class
• Nutritious meals, snacks or special diet
• Socialization and peer support
• Nursing and social services in a stimulating environment

• Ongoing evaluation of each participant
• Medical oversight of a nurse on site
• Worship services, pastoral visits, Bible study

Concordia also provides a variety of therapies for those individuals with Alzheimer’s type diseases or diminishing mental abilities including a daily review of the calendar and current events, reminiscing, re-motivation, music and pet therapies, arts and crafts, social skills and intergenerational events.
