Concordia Independent Living Resident Turns 85

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven III resident Ruth Brewer, formerly of Saxonburg, celebrated her 85th birthday recently.

The former Ruth Kurtz was born in Brackenridge on Nov. 29, 1924. She married Robert Brewer on July 16, 1943 and has five children, Cathy Haas of Corsica; Stephen Brewer of Jackson, WY; Jeffrey Brewer of Jackson, WY; Rebecca Kimmel of Wilson, WY; and Margaret Schneider of Valencia. She also has six grandchildren.

Brewer has lived at Concordia for eight years. She is a member, Deacon, and Elder at First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum and retired from Armstrong School District in 1989 as a Title II Reading Specialist. She is a graduate of Robert Morris Secretarial School and Slippery Rock University.

In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, playing cards, and listening to classical music, especially Pavroti.
