Concordia Independent Living Resident Celebrates 85th Birthday

Cabot – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven III resident Yvonne “Vonnie” Brinker, formerly of Vandergrift, celebrated her 85th birthday with a family dinner at J-Barn restaurant in Sarver on Feb. 10.

Born in Vandergrift, PA on Feb. 3, 1922, Brinker worked until 1983 as a secretary for the U.S. Steel Corp. in Vandergrift. While she never had any children herself, she has remained close to her niece Mary W. Hoop of Hickory, PA, great nieces Lynn E. de Seve of Bowie, MD and Julie E. Seymour of Grasonville, MD, and great nephew Brett Hoop of Hickory, PA. She also has six great, great nieces, two great, great nephews, four great, great, great nieces, and one great, great, great nephew.

Brinker is a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Saxonburg and an associate member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Vandergrift, where she served on the church council, was treasurer, and a member of the choir. She is also a member of the Concordia Haven Chorale. Brinker enjoys music, flowers, and traveling.
