Concordia Independent Living Resident Turns 90

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven III resident Charles “Butch” Buttgereit, formerly of Penn Hills, celebrated his 90th birthday on Sept. 6 with a reception at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Oakmont.

Buttgereit was born in Oakmont on Sept. 10, 1919. He married Jeanne Ritter on Sept. 4, 1942 in Millvale and has three children: Charles Buttgereit Jr. of Oakmont, Karen Driscoll of Cabot, and Dale Buttgereit of Peters Twp. Two other children, Barbara and Richard, are deceased. He also has nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Prior to his retirement in 1984, Buttgereit worked as a structural steel design draftsman for Comstock Engineering Co. He served in the Navy during World War II and is a lifetime member at Redeemer.

Buttgereit has lived at Concordia for nearly two years. He enjoys gardening, sports, church, and golf, having been a member of Willowbrook Country Club for over 40 years.
