New Chaplain Called to Serve at Concordia Lutheran Ministries
Cabot, PA – On behalf of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, President & CEO Keith Frndak is pleased to announce that Rev. Roger D. Nuerge has accepted the call to serve as chaplain, working primarily at the organization’s Cabot, Ridgewood Place, and the Orchard locations.
Rev. Nuerge is responsible for pastoral care, leading worship and Bible studies, and spiritual counseling. He came to Concordia with over 30 years of parish pastoral ministry in the Lutheran Church, most recently at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freedom, PA.
Rev. Nuerge earned his masters in divinity from Concordia Seminary after receiving his bachelor of arts from Concordia Senior College and his associate of arts from Concordia College. He said he came to Concordia for a number of reasons, including the organization’s reputation for high-quality, faith-based care.
“I believe God had something to do with me coming to Concordia,” Nuerge said. “I enjoy sharing God’s mercy, grace, and love with people, especially when it seems they might not be experiencing it.”
A resident of Economy Borough, Rev. Nuerge previously served on the Concordia Board of Directors for 13 years. He is endorsed as a chaplain by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and has served six hours per week as a chaplain at the Heinz Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Aspinwall since 2005.
Rev. Nuerge lives with his wife Mary and two of their children, Sarah and Justin. They have two other children: Tara Nuerge of Wexford and Joel Nuerge of Baden, and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Schultz of Belle Vernon. Another daughter, Lara Schultz, is deceased. In his free time, Rev. Nuerge enjoys gardening, home improvement and repair, and sports.
