Deaconess Called to Serve at Concordia Lutheran Ministries
Cabot, PA – Sara Lemon was recently called to serve as a Deaconess at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, after completing a one-year internship with the organization.
As Deaconess, Lemon will undertake more responsibilities at the several facilities operated by Concordia, including Bible Studies and Spiritual Assessments among other things. She said she is looking forward to seeing how God uses her in the coming years.
Coming to western Pennsylvania was never something she or her husband Stan had planned on, but as she said, “the Lord had something in mind here.” She was installed on May 19 in the Haven II chapel.
Lemon is a graduate of Concordia University in River Forest, IL, where she majored in Theology and minored in Biblical Studies and Spanish. She said her last year interning at Concordia was a pivotal learning experience.
“It was wonderful to apply classroom learning to real life situations,” she said. “The last year has really taught me to equip myself on the fly and be ready for anything.”
She also said one of her most distinct memories was the spirit of the Haven I residents after the fire, one in particular.
“There was one resident especially that was so resilient,” she said. “She lost everything she had, yet her amazing faith continually showed, even through her tears… Even after losing so much, she kept diagnosing herself, telling me she should be grateful for what she still has; it made me hope everyone could have that resiliency someday.”
