Concordia Choraliers to Make First Public Performance

Cabot, PA – A group of 18 independent living residents at Concordia Lutheran Ministries who have a passion for melody formed the Concordia Choraliers about two years ago, led by Haven III resident Dr. James Thorne.

The group is hoping to increase their fan base as they prepare for their first public performance on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. The group will salute the veterans who have served this country at their concert in Concordia’s new Haven I building at 7:00 p.m.

“The contribution made by men and women of the armed forces can never be recognized and appreciated enough,” said Thorne.

“Our group is more than music,” noted Thorne, the designer in sound management.  Through the use of computers and special software, he creates a CD.  With orchestra and chorus as background, the Choraliers create the surround sound that is a part of their performance.

Haven III resident and Violinist Rev. Dick Bartmas is a regular performer at the Concordia Haven Apartments. He has joined the Choraliers to give the group a fuller sound.

In addition to the concert, there will also be a short narration from Tom Brokaw’s book,  “The Greatest Generation.”  The color guard from Chicora American Legion, Post #0642 will be on hand as well.

The group includes: Sopranos – Jean Heckman, Mary Ellen Pratt, Lenore Roessing, Mary Elizabeth Saxion, Esther Shook, Margaret Stark, and Edie Waltenbaugh; Altos – Yvonne Brinker, Sally Burns, LeeAnna Kennedy, Eula Roth, and Marlene Weissert; Tenors – Allen Knappenberger, Charlie Pratt, Ray Roth, Jim Thorne, and Bob Waltenbaugh; violinist Rev. Dick Bartmas.

Refreshments and parking will be available for attendees.
