Concordia to Host Annual Festival and Dedicate Haven I

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host its 127th annual Summer Festival on Sunday, July 27 from noon – 6:00 p.m. under the tents behind the Lund Care Center – and this year’s event will mark another milestone in Concordia’s illustrious history: the dedication of Haven I at 1:30 p.m. at its main entrance on Marwood Road.

The Festival will feature a traditional summer menu: Grilled Sweet Italian Sausage, Homemade Ham BBQs, Grilled Hot Dogs, Creamy Homemade Cole Slaw, Fresh Macaroni Salad, Calico Baked Beans, Nachos with Cheese, Dreamsicle Orange Cake, Caramel Apple Pie, Snow Cones, and assorted beverages.

There will be a 3:00 p.m. worship service led by Rev. Herbert Schumm, pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millvale and Concordia board member, assisted by Concordia Chaplain Rev. Jack Hartman and Board Members Rev. Jamison Hardy, pastor at Peace Lutheran Church and Rev. Barry Keurulainen, senior pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church. There will also be open houses of the Haven I facility (1:30-5:00 p.m.), Lund Assisted Living (4:00-6:00 p.m.), and Concordia Childcare (1:00-3:00 p.m.).

The entertainment will include a steel drum band, the CamPraise singers, the In-House Group (comprised of Ken Robeson, Dr. Fred Fioravanti, other CLM employees), and other beach-inspired musical acts, to follow along with this year’s Beach Party theme. The Pittsburgh Lutheran Chorus, accompanied by several Concordia Haven residents, will sing during the worship service, as well as Concordia Deaconess Sara Lemon.

Additionally, golf carts and the famous Saxonburg trolleys will be transporting people around campus and a bus will be available from 12:00 –2:00 p.m. for those wishing to tour Saxony Farm Estate. There will also be a number of activities for children – including a train, clown, caricature artist, crafts, and games.
