Three Concordia nurses nominated for the 2009 Butler’s Best Nurse Award, sponsored by the Butler Eagle.
George Yarrington (CVN)
George provides excellent care to his patients in the Butler and Zelienople area. He goes the extra mile in meeting his patients’ needs in their homes. He provides compassionate care to his critically ill patients. He also is an excellent resource person to his peers.
He recently provided care to a terminally ill patient in her home prior to her admission to hospice care. George provided them the emotional support needed to help them make the transition from home care to hospice care. George remained in touch with the patient and family even after the transfer of care occurred and the family was very grateful for his support.
Bonnie Moore (CVN)
Bonnie provides excellent care to her home care patients in the Butler area and is well respected by her peers. She also provides palliative care to patients who are not ready for hospice care.
Bonnie recently took care of a terminally ill patient who was being cared for by her elderly husband. The patient’s husband initially was reluctant to accept Bonnie’s care, as he wanted privacy for his wife. He agreed to let Bonnie get pain medication for her. When she passed at 1 o’clock in the morning, Bonnie provided emotional support to both the patient and her husband. He was very grateful for the care and for keeping his wife’s dying process private.
Liza McCune
As the Schwalm Hall unit manager, Liza goes above and beyond the call of duty daily.
After being appointed to her position, she quickly took initiative and got her team organized, which led to exceptional patient care. Additionally, Liza takes on added responsibility by doing wound rounds. She has been with the organization for over 10 years.
