Concordia Reaches Out to Local Mission

Cabot, PA – Once again this year, as is Concordia’s tradition, staff treated 45 children, ages 3-16 with a Christmas bags of goodies on Monday, December 17.

One of the Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Ministries, the after school outreach children’s ministry at Unity Lutheran Community Mission in Homewood, provides a meal and worship four days a week for these children. Through the efforts of Concordia and Rev. Reholma McCants, the kids certainly enjoyed their gifts.

And it was a “family affair” at Concordia, as Haven residents provided donations and Lund Assisted Living residents helped to package the gifts. It’s truly heart-rending to experience a four year old tugging at your pant leg to thank you or a six-year old digging in her pocket for a bracelet she made for you in thanks.

Rev. McCants said he is seeing second generation children in this program as he continues to serve God’s people in this Pittsburgh inner-city program.
