Concordia Lutheran Ministries to Host Alzheimer's Presentation

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host a presentation titled Alzheimer’s Disease: Current Treatments and Therapy on Monday, Nov. 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Haven II dining room on Marwood Road.

The presentation, conducted by Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Debbi Yackuboskey, will be open to the community. The purpose of the event is to educate caregivers on a number of topics dealing with the disease.

Specific topics for the presentation include risk factors, diagnosis, signs and symptoms, progression of the disease, available treatments, and approved medications. In addition, the effect of the disease on the caregiver will be discussed. Providence Pharmacy and Forest Pharmaceutical are sponsoring the event.

According to the Web site www.alz.org, an estimated 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s Disease, and that number is expected to increase to as many as 16 million by 2050. Of those, family and friends provide almost 75 percent of their care.
