Concordia to Host Expert on Civil War Era Music

Cabot, PA – On April 28, Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host noted musician and instrument maker Thomas Jolin, who specializes in Civil War era music. The event will be held in the Concordia Social Hall in Haven I, 112 Marwood Rd., Jefferson Twp., at 7:00 p.m.

Jolin will perform a selection of songs from the era and discuss their origins, as well as the origins of the instruments of the period. Many of the songs were handed down from immigrant cultures, with themes such as military life, domestic scenes, death, and abolition. The Pennsylvania Humanities Council is sponsoring the event.

The event is open to the community and free of charge. Community members are encouraged to pre-register by calling Haven Program Director Cathy Questiaux at 724.352.1571, ext. 8518.
