Concordia Assisted Living Couple Celebrates 70th Anniversary

Cabot, PA – There aren’t very many people who know the feeling of waking up next to the same person for 70 years. Garfield “Tim” and Dorothy Timmis, residents of Lund Assisted Living, however, can tell you all about it.

The Timmis’ recently celebrated 70 years of marriage on Sept. 25. The groom’s father and uncle, both ministers, married Garfield and the former Dorothy Sheffer, in 1937 at Boyers United Methodist Church. They have one daughter, Sherry Schatz of Phoenix, AZ, and a daughter Carol Hope Timmis who is deceased.

Garfield retired as supervisor of the U.S. Steel Archives in Boyers. Dorothy is a retired deputy of the Butler County Sheriff’s office.

They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Butler and have lived at Concordia since December 2002.
