Deaconess Accepts Call at Concordia at Cabot Campus
Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Director of Chaplaincy Rev. Jack Hartman recently announced that Deaconess Megan Smith accepted a call to serve at the Cabot location on Marwood Rd.
Smith, who is currently living in Butler, comes to Concordia after two years of deaconess work in hospitals. Her primary responsibilities include visiting the sick, conducting Bible studies, and spiritual advisement. She will be commissioned and installed March 29.
“I’ve always enjoyed talking to people and helping them through difficult moments in their lives,” Smith said. “Deaconess work was the next natural step for me, with a little help from the Holy Spirit of course.”
Smith earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Black Hills State University in South Dakota and a master of arts in theology from Concordia Theological Seminary in Indiana. She also is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management.
She currently attends Faith Lutheran Church in Butler, where her husband Kelly is serving as a vicar. Her main hobby is old-fashioned film photography.
