No Bones About It - Concordia Dog Show Impresses
Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries doesn’t try to hide the fact that it’s going to the dogs, especially on Aug. 14 when Activities hosted the seventh annual dog show in the rear parking lot of the Lund Care Center.
Over 160 residents, staff members, and friends of Concordia came out to cheer on the prized pooches as they showed off for the judges. In all, 20 dogs competed in four categories: Most Friendly, Most Obedient, Best Groomed, and Best Performer.
Director of Activities for Skilled Nursing Christina Savannah said that seven was a lucky number this year, as this was the best dog show Concordia had had so far.
“This was our biggest dog show ever,” Savannah said. “We had a lot of help from the staff and visitors, and many residents commented on the turnout.”
She also mentioned that the judges had a difficult job choosing the winners since all the dogs were wonderful. The judges for this year’s event were residents Mabel Wenzel, Leona Caro, Margaret Birckbichler, and Thomas Bing.
While all the dogs put on a great show, four dogs really stood out: Best Performer – “Brooke” and her owner Connie Murray; Most Obedient – “Minnie” and her owner Debby Treshok; Most Friendly – “Clay” and his owner Amy Montag; and Best Groomed – “Cookie Crumb” and her owner Jill Kunkle. “Cookie Crumb” is well known by the residents, as she visits Concordia several times per week.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the people and dogs that participated.
