Concordia Independent Living Resident Turns 85

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven II resident Emogene S. Blair celebrated her 85th birthday recently with a trip to see her brother in Somerset and a family reunion in Connellsville.

The former Emogene Showman was born in Pennsville, PA on July 24, 1924. She married husband Jack Blair at Rosedale United Methodist Church in Penn Hills on Oct. 5, 1967 and lived in Murrysville before moving to Concordia in 1996.

Blair’s last employer before her 1983 retirement was U.S. Steel, where she served as the secretary to the director of personnel. Prior to that position, she worked as an assistant editor for Greater Pittsburgh Magazine, as well as on several church publications.

A charter member at Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont, Blair’s interests include water color painting, creative writing, making greeting cards, and performing musical duets with her husband. When she was younger, she was very active with young adult programs and retreats with various organizations in Pittsburgh, one of which was how she met her husband.
