Concordia Employee Retires after 12 Years With Organization

Cabot, PA – As the Haven II Building Coordinator at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Roxie Nicol was, in part, responsible for the well being of over 100 retirement living residents. And one thing she was particularly passionate about during her tenure: helping every single one of them retain their independence… Even at the cost of not always being the “good guy.”

Nicol retired from Concordia in mid-December after 12+ years of service at the organization. Her legacy is one of unwavering commitment to the residents she saw five days a week, residents who became an extended family.

“That’s one thing I’ll take with me from Concordia, all the time spent with my residents, all the fun and laughter,” Nicol said. “And of course the time spent with Phyllis Brown (former Haven Admissions Coordinator).”

Nicol said she came to Concordia because of its “reputation as a place of faith and caring.” During her years with the organization she was responsible for billing, collecting payments, and working as an ambassador for the residents of Haven II.

A member and Stephen Minister at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, Nicol lives just three miles from the Haven II building. In retirement she is looking forward to visiting family, gardening, volunteering, and taking long lunches with friends.

“I’m so excited to not have any real time constraints,” she said. “I’ll be able to see my grandchildren more often, for longer periods of time… it’s going to be great.”

Nicol has two children: Tracy of Cincinnati, OH and Jeff of Broomfield, CO and six grandchildren.
