Concordia Independent Living Resident Turns 90

Cabot, PA –  Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven III resident Esther B. Shook will celebrate her 90th birthday on May 3 with a family dinner at the J-Barn Country Inn in Sarver.

The former Esther Biram was born May 4, 1918 in Vandergrift. She married Roy David Shook in Wellsburg, WV on May 27, 1936. For her party she expects many friends and family, including: her sister Naome Hammerle of FL; her niece Carol Thompson of Apollo; her nephew Rick Swank of Norristown; and her dear friend Clarence Fryer of Haven III.

Shook worked as a secretary until 1980, when she retired from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County. She is a member at Vandergrift Presbyterian Church, where she served on the choir for 70 years, taught Sunday School, and was a church Elder.

In her spare time, Shook enjoys traveling, line dancing, singing and music in general.
