Concordia's Second Annual Fashion Show Draws More Than 300

Cabot, PA – The Second Annual Concordia Lutheran Ministries Fashion Show on Saturday, May 5 at Butler Country Club attracted 321 guests.

Planned by staff and those living in the retirement apartments on the Cabot campus, the event was highlighted with “Fashions by Phyllis.”   Guests enjoyed the opportunity to purchase attire and accessories and tickets for 38 themed baskets and a queen-size handmade quilt. 

Themed “Spring Fiesta”, the Fashion Show celebrated Cinco de Mayo complete with bright colored centerpieces handmade by Concordia Haven residents.  The committee wore sombreros and Mexican style attire.

The event generated more than $10,000 in receipts for the $2.5 million Capital Campaign,  “A Time to Build …” , established to support the $12.5 million Lund Care Center

Fashion Show team leaders included Haven residents Marlene Weissert, chairman and Pat Mrozinski, co-chairman; Harriet Pierce Bartmas and Edith Waltenbaugh, table decorations; Peggy Stark, hostesses; Leona Zitzman, fashions; Dorothy Blankenbuehler, reservations, Anzie Kelley, Director of Nursing, baskets; Rosie Hockenberry, tickets and Roxie Nicol, tables.  All reside in the Butler area.  Also serving on the committee were Norene Nelson, Suthann Sulitz, Betty Berg, Henrietta Maurhoff, Elizabeth Turner, Peggy Trettel, Verlee Fischer, Chrysa Hortert,Dorothy Gunther, Jane Norris, Joan Balicki, Claire Shephard, Charlene Kline, Beth Wichrowski and Shirley Freyer.

A Bake Sale and three Basket Auctions on campus prior to the fashion show increased the monies that were raised.
