Good Samaritan Hospice 5K Draws Over 100 at North Park
Cabot, PA – On September 28, like most Sunday mornings during the warmer months in western Pennsylvania, dozens of people participated in a charity 5K at North Park. The only difference was that these individuals weren’t just there to stay in shape or raise a few dollars…
They were there to recognize, remember, and honor a deceased loved one.
Over 100 moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandchildren and friends participated in the 7th Annual Good Samaritan Hospice 5K Run/Walk, which raised close to $1000 for patients in end of life situations. Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, provides comfort care in patients’ homes, at the Hospice House in Wexford, and at the inpatient unit at the Lund Care Center in Cabot.
The top three male runners were: Matt Drohan, Butler – 20:37.9; Matt Taylor, Pittsburgh – 22:03.0; and Michael Fiorina, Butler – 22:24.3. The top three female runners were: Kristy Brown, Pittsburgh – 24:55.03; Danielle Ripper, Baden – 27:03.1; and Kelsey Chizmar, Pittsburgh – 27:06.4.
The day started at the North Park Boat House at 8:00 a.m., with registration and the race starting at 9:00. Special thanks to all the runners, helpers, and volunteers who made the event possible.
