Good Samaritan Hospice Featured in National Publication
Cabot, PA – When a local organization like Good Samaritan Hospice (GSH), a Mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, garners a reputation in the community for high quality care, local media tends to take notice (see the story “Program gives grieving kids a chance to heal” in the July 17 edition of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette).
When GSH continues to take end of life care to new levels, national media occasionally get involved.
In the December 15 – 22 issue of U.S. News & World Report, Reporter Kerry Hannon wrote a three-page story titled “A Spreading Appreciation for the Benefits of Hospice Care.” GSH was one of the organizations called for an expert opinion.
Hannon spoke with GSH Clinical Director Michelle Hartman, RN about some of the hurdles facing hospice providers. Hartman was quoted regarding the hesitancy of physicians to refer patients to hospice – which is focused on caring, not curing.
