Health and Wellness Fair Planned for Retirement Apartment Residents at Concordia Open to Community

Cabot, PA – The more than 300 Concordia residents who live in the Haven Apartments will participate in the first Health and Wellness Fair on Wednesday, April 4 in the Haven III Ground Floor Common Area from 1:30 – 3 p.m.

Program Director Cathy Questiaux, who coordinated the event based on the success of an employee health fair earlier this year, promises fun and information.  Eleven organizations will be on hand to provide screenings, health food samples and valuable information. 

Allegheny Valley YMCA instructors who conduct Silver Sneakers exercise and Yoga stretch classes at Concordia will demonstrate these fitness techniques at the Fair.  Butler Memorial Hospital will present blood pressure and osteoporosis screenings as well as medical safety information; glaucoma screening will be offered by Corbin-Peterson Family Eye Care, in Saxonburg; Diane’s Health Shoppe and will provide healthy and natural food product samples.   Sears Hearing Aid Centers will provide hearing tests.  Dr. Jesse Mytinger, podiatrist will conduct foot screenings and Dr. Kim Fitzgerald, dentist will be on hand. 

A Mini-Speaker’s Bureau will be held in the Haven III Library beginning at 1:30 pm. withKrishna Gupta, M.D. of S.J. Antoon Urological Assocites discussing “Incontinence;”  Walter Krasinsky, M.D. of Valley Vision will discuss “What to ‘Look’ for – Common Eye Conditions” at 2:30 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. “Spine Disorders at We Age” by Michael Casey, M.D., Greater Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Associates.  All physicians are members of the Alle-Kiski Medical Center staff.

Staff from Concordia’s Outpatient Therapy, Visiting Nurses, Good Samaritan Hospice and TeleCareGivers will also be in attendance.
