Concordia Names, Dedicates Areas in Lund Care Center
Cabot, PA – On Friday, June 15, many of the areas in the Lund Care Center were officially named and dedicated during a series of plaque unveiling presentations led by Concordia President and CEO Keith Frndak. Families of the honored, friends of Concordia, and several staff members were on hand to witness this new page in Concordia’s 126-year history.
Frndak had a story to tell with each dedication. He talked with the crowd of 25 or so about the thousands of jokes and pieces of advice given to him by Horst Schwalm, the endless promotion Miriam Goerss King gave to Concordia, and the always-giving heart of Rev. Lorenz Blankenbuehler, former Concordia Chaplian. All of these individuals and several more will be embedded in the halls of the Lund Care Center for years to come.
Area names were chosen based on the individuals’ areas of interest. For example, Fritsch Dining Room was named after Justine Fritsch, who was well known in the area for her baking prowess. King Activity Room was named for Miriam Goerss King, who spent hours working with her hands making arts and crafts.
The names from the Oertel Care Center - Markus, Neitzel, and Kausch - will be “retired” to the Concordia Wall of Fame, a section in Lund dedicated to recognizing Concordia’s oldest and most generous friends. Without the assistance given by these friends, Concordia would not be able to put forward the quality of services currently offered.
