New Child Care Director at Concordia

Cabot, PA – Shirley Hollis was named Child Care Director at Concordia Lutheran Ministries recently. 

She comes to Concordia from Small World Daycare, Inc. in Apollo where she has worked since 1990 serving as Director for the past two and ½ years.  A graduate of Westmoreland County Community College with an A.D. in Early Childhood Education, Shirley replaces Amy Rumbaugh who has transitioned to part-time status.

Shirley enjoys camping and traveling with her three children, Kristine, age 23, and her hsuband; son, Joshua, 22 in his last year at IUP and son, James, 21, a union carpenter apprentice.  

“I think it is a exciting a new page in my life and I am especially eager to introduce a pre-school program here at Concordia and meet the kids and their families.,” says Shirley.

Her assistant, Andrea Lang has been with Concordia as a Dietary Aide since 2001.  A resident of Cabot, Andrea earned her B.S. in Child Development and Family Relations from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with special areas of study in preschool education, early childhood education, infant development and teaching in child development centers as well as sign language and speech and language for persons with hearing loss.  She served as a student teacher at Davis Child Care Center in Indiana, PA. 

Just married in August, she and her husband, Jeff, enjoy spending time with friends and family, scrapbooking and crafts. “It’s good to be able to remain at Concordia and do what I went to school for,” Andrea reveals.

Director of Human Resources, Brian Llewellyn is particularly satisfied with the new leadership combination and calls the team, “dynamic and a strong benefit for our employees and the community.”
