Over 1200 Attend Concordia Oktoberfest/125th Anniversary

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries celebrated its 125th anniversary in true seasonal style on October 7, as over 1200 community members attended the annual Oktoberfest held in the backyards of the Lund and Haven III buildings.

The warm, sunny weather provided the perfect backdrop for the day, which had entertainment from such acts as the North Star Kids, The New Addition Band, Accordionist Dom Garda, and the Allegheny Brass Band, which played straight through the fantastic Zambelli fireworks display at the end of the night.

Children were kept busy throughout the day with a petting zoo, pony rides, caricature artist, hayrides, spinning demonstration, and the “Big Bouncer.” Concordia residents held a bake sale and rummage sale, raising over $1100 for Concordia’s Capital Campaign.

Those that brought their appetite were treated to grilled lamb (compliments of Carol Schuler), marinated pulled roast beef, hot dogs and kielbasa with or w/o sauerkraut, German potato salad, baked beans, spaetzle and cabbage, corn on the cob, apple dumplings, pumpkin pie, and warm apple cider.

Concordia President and C.E.O. Keith Frndak and Butler County Commissioner James Kennedy dedicated the newly expanded Lund Care Center, which will be operational after the last week of October. A public Open House will be held on November 4.

Concordia extends an enormous thank you to volunteers and participants from this year’s festivities. We are already looking forward to celebrating 126 years next October.
