Concordia Lutheran Ministries Celebrates 125 Years in Traditional Style
Cabot, PA – For 125 years, Concordia Lutheran Ministries has served the local community, and on October 7, a celebration to commemorate this anniversary and the dedication of the newly expanded Lund Care Center is scheduled at the Cabot campus during our annual Oktoberfest.
The celebration will take place behind the Haven III and Lund buildings on Marwood Road. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. and continue for the next six hours, with a spectacular Zambelli Internationale fireworks display to close the evening. Entertainment for the affair will include the North Star Kids and The New Addition Band under the tent. Accordionist Dom Garda will be in the Lund Care Center and the Little German Band will entertain residents in Oertel. For the children, there will be a caricature artist, a spinning demonstration, a petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, and the inflatable “Big Bouncer” recreation.
Chaplain Jack Hartman and Keith Frndak, President and CEO will lead the dedication of the new Lund expansion. The Pittsburgh Lutheran Chorus and the Haven Chorale group will accompany them at 6:15.
In addition to the entertainment and dedication, the Concordia dietary staff has prepared a German-themed menu of Kielbasa and Sauerkraut, Marinated Pulled Roast Beef Sandwich served on a Kaiser Roll, Hot Dogs with or without sauerkraut, German Potato Salad, Slow Cooked Baked Beans, Spaetzle and Cabbage, Corn on the Cob, Apple Dumplings with Warm Cinnamon Sauce, Warm Apple Cider with a Cinnamon Stick, and Grilled Lamb, compliments of Carol Schuler.
The event will also host a bake sale, a tour of the retirement living apartments, and Saxonburg trolleys to shuttle guests.
Concordia will also launch its first branding campaign to showcase Concordia’s high level of care along with its faith-based mission. “We put our faith in caring” is the tagline for the campaign, and will hopefully be quickly associated with the organization, as it will be attached to any print, radio, and television advertisements.
