Over 700 Attend Annual Concordia Summer Festival
Cabot, PA – On an afternoon that was made for outdoor activity, over 700 community members, Concordia residents and employees, and those from our supporting congregations attended the 127th annual summer festival on July 27. Some came for the food, others for the entertainment – but most came to wish the Haven I residents blessings as they moved into their new home.
In a ceremony led by Concordia Chaplain Paul Rist, it was standing room only in the newly finished Haven I dining room as the building was dedicated and the residents were recognized. Many existing residents moved in this past week.
Beyond the dedication ceremony, those attending the festival enjoyed music from The Steel Drum Trio, CamPraise, and The In-House Band, featuring four Concordia employees (Dr. Fred Fioravanti, Matt Puskarich, and Ken and Steven Robeson). Children enjoyed face painting, crafts, games, a caricature artist, and a clown, among other things.
Rev. Barry Keurulainen, Concordia board member and senior pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot, led the worship service. His message was based on thanksgiving, new beginnings, and looking forward. He recognized Concordia President & CEO Keith Frndak for his 25 years of service with the organization.
A fund called “Servant Leaders of the Cross” was recently established in Frndak’s honor. The fund will provide opportunities for youth to fulfill mission work in conjunction with Angel Tear Ministries, the international mission fund of Concordia.
