Concordia Employee Outing a "Blast"
Cabot, PA – Despite the fact that the Pittsburgh Pirates have been perennial cellar-dwellers for the majority of this baseball season, one can’t deny that a trip to PNC Park is an entertaining experience in and of itself.
Add onto that trip a Zambelli Fireworks display and a high-energy performance by pop-rock icons Smash Mouth and you’ve got a night to remember. On Friday, Aug. 17, over 900 Concordia employees and their families attended the Concordia Pirates Outing, hosted by the Human Resources department.
And yes, for those of you keeping score at home, the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pirates 8-11.
The evening wasn’t totally ruined by the Pirates interstate rivals, however, as Skyblast had the crowd of 38,000-plus in awe. Concordia staff served the 85 pizzas purchased from Vocelli’s and five buses carrying roughly 250 employees arrived back at the Concordia at Cabot campus just after midnight.
Highlights from the game included home runs by Pirates Ronny Paulino, Matt Kata, and Jose Bautista. The Buccos lone all-star representative Freddy Sanchez contributed with three RBIs.
