Concordia Couple Celebrates 65 Years of Marriage
Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries couple Joseph and Frances Michalek will celebrate their upcoming 65th wedding anniversary with a private lunch at the Lund Care Center.
Joseph and the former Frances Whoczewski were married on Feb. 28, 1943 in Natrona Heights at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (O.L.P.H.). They have three children: James Michalek of Alomogordo, NM; Roseanne Desilets of Anaheim, CA; and Kathleen Obaraski and husband David of Oak Ridge, TN. They also have four grandchildren as well.
Frances spent her life as a homemaker, keeping their home and raising the children. She always enjoyed music being played around the house and became involved with senior groups at church in her later years. Joseph worked for Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 42 years until his retirement in September of 1979. He enjoys golf, bridge, and music. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 186 in Natrona Heights for 30 years and was a member of the ELKS Club in Tarentum and M.O.R.A. (Men of Retirement Age).
Joseph served in the Army during World War II from 1943-1946. He worked with an anti-aircraft unit and on bridge engineering in the U.S. and Philippines.
The Michaleks are members at Blessed Sacrament (O.L.P.H.) and have enjoyed traveling extensively throughout their lives together. They have visited all of the continental U.S. states except for the Dakotas and Minnesota and have also taken several trips to Canada and Mexico.
