Concordia Independent Living Resident Turns 90

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven II resident Joseph A. Schiedel celebrated his 90th birthday on April 19 with a family party in Honeoye Falls, NY.

Schiedel was born April 25, 1918 in Hamburg, NY. He married Martha O’Dell on October 10, 1947 in Syracuse, NY and has three children: Thomas Schiedel of Honeoye, NY; Margie Beskow of Stavanger, Norway; and Deborah Holmes of Great Barrington, MA. He also has eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Schiedel has been at Concordia for 14 years, since moving from his former home in Hendersonville, NC. He was self employed, working in appliance sales until his retirement in 1992. He also served in the Army for three years and was wounded in the famed Battle of the Bulge.

Schiedel is a member at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, PA and enjoys stained glass work and wood working in his spare time.
