Concordia Independent Living Resident Celebrates 90th Birthday

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven II resident Alice Summerhill, formerly of North Apollo, celebrated her 90th birthday with a family reception on May 12 in the Haven II activity room.

Summerhill was born in West Deer Township on May 9, 1917. While she has no children of her own, she has remained close to her nieces, three of whom helped plan her birthday reception: Alberta Altmeyer of Westmoreland; Bonnie Shuster of Vandergrift; and Jo Marie McKruit of Cabot.

Before retiring in 1980, Summerhill was employed by the Leechburg Mining Company as a Paymaster for 45 years. She is a member at North Apollo Church of God and the Massy Harbison - Fort Hand Chapter of the American Daughters of the Revolution society.

Summerhill has lived at Concordia for eight years. Her main hobby is genealogy and she enjoyed reading and traveling in the past.
