Concordia Haven Resident Celebrates 85th Birthday

Cabot, PA – Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven I resident Edna M. Weckerly, formerly of Butler, is celebrating her 85th birthday with a weekend in Michigan visiting her family.

Weckerly was born in Valencia, PA on June 8, 1922. She married Howard L. Weckerly on Oct. 30, 1945 and has two children: Ruth C. Noon of Novi, MI and Marsha L. Wagner of Butler, PA. She also has three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

Weckerly has been a resident at Concordia since 1993. She is a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saxonburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher and served on the Alter Guild.

During World War II, Weckerly worked at the Spaide Shirt Company in Butler, PA.  There she sewed U.S. Army dress shirts and white Medical Parachutes for dropping first aide supplies to U.S. troops.  She retired in 1948 for the birth of her first child.

Her interests include crafts, sewing, volunteering, and time with her family.
