Concordia is pleased to continue the Concordia Institute

for Lifelong Learning this winter. In an effort to help seniors

of retirement age keep mentally fit and alert, classes are offered as non credit, designed to inform and educate in a relaxed atmosphere. Classes include Email Basics, Introduction to Word Processing and more. Click here for the Winter 2012 Course Catalog.

The services are held in memory of those who spent their

final days in Good Samaritan Hospice care, but the event is open to anyone dealing with grief. Contact Rev. Paul Rist at 724.933.8888 to register. Both services begin at 3:00 p.m.

May 5 – 7th Annual Fashion Show
Butler Country Club

Created in 2006 as a fundraiser for the Lund Care Center
Expansion Project. The funds this year will go to the Good Samaritan Endowment Fund. Held at the Butler Country Club, the luncheon features more than 30 auction baskets, a vendor mall and fashions by Pittsburgh Elegance, a clothing designer local to the Western PA region who provides the fashions for purchase.

June 15-17– Camp Erin

June 15-17– Camp Good Sam

YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer

Good Samaritan Hospice hosts these overnight camps for children and adolescents to help them cope with the death of someone close to them. Camp Good SAM for children ages 6-12 and Camp Erin for teens ages 13-17 offer a safe place where young people can create friendships with others who have been through a similar loss. The free camps combine traditional, fun-filled recreational activities with grief education, peer bonding and emotional support. Campers are provided with the tools and resources to deal with their feelings while at camp and upon returning to their daily lives. Each camp is staffed by professional counselors from Good Samaritan Hospice. Campers are paired with trained volunteers throughout camp. A memorial service is held at the end of the weekend for campers and their families. Please call 1.800.720.2557 for more information. June 19 – Legacy Society Appreciation Luncheon
Pittsburgh Field Club

The Annual Appreciation Luncheon for members of Concordia Lutheran Ministries Legacy Society is held at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Fox Chapel and hosted by Concordia’s President and CEO, Keith E. Frndak and his division directors, as well as Concordia’s board of directors. The event honors individuals who make estate or other charitable gifts supporting the work of Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

July 9 – 9th Annual Golf Outing
Treesdale Golf & Country Club

The Annual Concordia Lutheran Ministries Golf Outing is scheduled for July 11 at Treesdale Golf & Country Club in Gibsonia. The Golf Outing includes a gift for all golfers, lunch at the turn, golf on a premiere par 72 championship golf course, followed by a dinner reception. Proceeds benefit Concordia’s charity care fund – the Good Samaritan Endowment Fund. Sponsorship opportunities are available at various levels including the individual golfer.

July 29 – 131st Annual Festival
Concordia at Cabot Campus

Scheduled “under the tents” behind the Lund Care Center on the last Sunday in July from noon until 6 p.m., the traditional Festival features a worship service of thanksgiving at 3 p.m., a mass choir of members of our congregations, Haven residents, and Pittsburgh Lutheran Chorus members, a special menu based on the year’s theme and entertainment for all ages. This event has been held annually since Concordia’s establishment more than 130 years ago.

September 20 – 2nd Annual Concordia of the South HIlls Fashion Show

The Club at Nevillewood

Created as a fundraiser for the Concordia of the South Hills Caring Fund, the event will be held at the Club at Nevillewood. The luncheon begins at 11:00 and features a vendor mall as well as Fashions by Phyllis, a clothing designer local to the Western PA region who provides the fashions for purchase. Tickets are available for $35 each by calling 412.294.1306. Reservations only, no tickets will be sold at the door.

October 6 – Annual Oktoberfest
Concordia at Cabot Campus

Concordia Lutheran Ministries Cabot campus is transformed into a site for fun, food, friends and family the first Saturday in October each year to enjoy the traditional German Oktoberfest. The day features a special German menu, musical entertainment,, a petting zoo/pony rides, and games and entertainment for all ages ending with Zambelli fireworks. This tradition found its way to Concordia more than 25 years ago due to the heritage of so many of our residents.

October 13 – Good Samaritan Hospice Annual 5K Run/Walk

North Park Boat House

Good Samaritan Hospice will host its 10th annual run/walk this year. All proceeds benefit Good Samaritan's special program of care to community residents facing a life-limiting illness. Good Samaritan Hospice currently serves Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Beaver and notrthern Westmoreland counties. The event features an opening prayer service, post race party, participant placement awards, door prizes and entertainment throughout the day.

Alzheimer's / Dementia Caregivers Support Group Meetings

Adult Day Services (Lund Care Center, Cabot Campus)

These meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Adult Day Services programming area in the Lund Care Center. The meetings are free and open to all caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer's or dementia.
