CONCORDIA AT THE ORCHARD

Few settings in western Pennsylvania are more relaxing

than a sprawling apple orchard, which may explain the notion

behind building Concordia at the Orchard directly in the middle of one.

Built in 1996, Concordia at the Orchard was originally owned and operated by the parish at North Main Street Church of God. The initial plan was for the facility to serve as a retirement community, but the need for assisted living services in the area soon changed that focus. However, since proper licensure was not granted until 1997, the Orchard was originally classified as “catered living.”

In 2001, former Facility Director and current Concordia Corporate Compliance Officer Karen McCarrier took the reins, prompting a number of positive changes at the facility. Two years later, Concordia Lutheran Ministries acquired the Orchard. Since that time, Concordia at the Orchard has experienced positive growth in terms of staff, capacity, and resident fulfillment.

In 2006, Concordia acquired an additional 40 acres adjacent to the Concordia at the Orchard property, allowing potential expansion in the future. Guided by current Facility Director Robin Hipple, Concordia at the Orchard will continue to serve more individuals in the Butler area.
