CONCORDIA AT RIDGEWOOD PLACE
There aren’t many senior living facilities that can say
children hold a significant place in their respective histories
– but that is exactly the situation at Concordia at Ridgewood
Place in Plum Borough.
The property where the cozy Assisted Living facility now stands was once used by the Plum Public School District for Renton Elementary School. Students from several areas were taught their reading, writing, and arithmetic at this spot until 1989, when the school was closed. Two years later the former Citizens General Hospital purchased the land. Coincidentally, several former Renton students have been residents here.
Within five years, the facility was up and running, donning the elegant design that is still there today. On June 4, 2003, Concordia Lutheran Ministries acquired Ridgewood Place, reshaping the face of the facility and establishing the trusted Concordia name in the area.
Now a part of the Concordia family, Concordia at Ridgewood Place has adopted the faith-based culture and non-profit status that Concordia prides itself on. In the last four years, efforts have been made to update the grounds, as several gardens have been planted and an outdoor patio area has been extended.
While the history of this facility is still taking form, countless lives have already been touched by the staff, which truly views their work as a mission, not just a job.
