GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPICE
Good Samaritan Hospice (GSH) has been actively serving
the greater Pittsburgh area since its inception in 1998,
providing quality end-of-life care to the terminally ill and
their families. Since day one, our philosophy of team care has enabled us to treat our patients physically, psychologically, and emotionally.
In 2004, after eight years of service to individuals in their own homes, GSH recognized that many of our patients could not always safely remain at home. Accordingly, it opened the first freestanding hospice residence in Southwestern Pennsylvania, The Good Samaritan House in Wexford, PA. The 5,200 square foot house, situated on 1.9 acres of wooded landscape, has provided a peaceful end-of-life setting for all those who have come through our doors.
In 2005, Concordia Lutheran Ministries partnered with the organization, consequently enhancing the already superior quality of care offered.
Just two years later, in 2007, GSH expanded yet again, opening a 10-bed, 6,500 square foot hospice wing in the Lund Care Center on the Cabot campus. This inpatient facility rounded out the continuum of care offered at Concordia at Cabot, giving Concordia residents and the surrounding communities a convenient, tranquil environment for the specialized services of hospice care.
To date, GSH continues to offer inpatient services at the Cabot and Wexford locations, as well as home hospice care services in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, and Westmoreland counties.
