HOSPICE SERVICES
In January 2005, Good Samaritan Hospice partnered with Concordia Lutheran Ministries to complete the CLM continuum of care by providing quality end-of-life care to patients on campus and in the surrounding communities.
Good Samaritan Hospice is the only nonprofit, free-standing hospice founded on Christian principles and serving Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler and northern Westmoreland counties. Good Samaritan Hospice not only believes, but promotes hospice as a ministry. Our vision of what hospice care should be, began in 1998 and continues to grow as we strive to meet the needs of the terminally ill in the communities that we serve. The hospice approach is comfort care, when a cure is no longer probable. We meet our patients along their life’s journey and walk with them at this very sacred time focusing on their physical, spiritual and emotional needs.
In addition to caring for our patients in their own homes – or home-like setting, care is also provided at The Good Samaritan House in Wexford which is a beautiful Craftsman-styled house set on wooded grounds and decorated in cozy, nurturing colors, fabrics, artwork and furniture. Built for those who are unable to safely remain in their own homes at end of life, residents at The Good Samaritan House receive 24 hour care by compassionate team members. Our house, is their home.
In November 2006 our ministry grew and we expanded into Armstrong and Butler counties with the opening of Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia. This unit is the first and only in-patient hospice facility located in Butler County for those in need of more intense symptom management during the final weeks of life.
