5 Reasons Your Family Should Come to Concordia’s Second Annual Live Nativity

December 11, 2014

(This article is from the 2014 Concordia Live Nativity. While the reasons for attending haven't changed, remember that the 2015 Live Nativity is Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 from 4-7 p.m.)

Between all of our senior care communities in western PA and eastern OH and home care, we do TONS of community events throughout the year at Concordia. And while they all serve an important purpose – education, fundraising, community building, fun, etc – there’s something special about the Live Nativity, which will be held this Sunday, Dec. 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Concordia at Cabot’s Haven II building (148 Marwood Rd., Cabot, PA 16023 - click here for Google Maps directions). Maybe it’s the message, maybe it’s the season… but whatever IT is, IT makes this one event not to miss.

With that said, we wanted to give you a few reasons – five to be exact – you should bring the family to cozy Cabot this Sunday to check out Concordia’s rendition of the Live Nativity.

1. The Message: As a faith-based organization, it goes without saying that the birth of Jesus Christ is a REALLY big deal at Concordia. Like, a REALLY, REALLY big deal! Stop by to see our re-telling of the greatest story ever told, and the reason for the season. If you’re having trouble getting into the holiday spirit this year, this could be the kick start you need!

2. Indoor and Outdoor Entertainment: The actual Nativity scene is outside, but for those who want to escape the cold, we’ve got you covered with live Christmas music, hot chocolate and Christmas cookies inside! And how’s this for a mix of indoor musical entertainment: Five time slots, two of which are Concordia Haven residents, one group of St. Luke Lutheran School students, one group of Pittsburgh Lutheran Chorus members, and one Concordia staff member (Maintenance Tech Sam Scott).

3. It’s all Free: Free parking, free entertainment, free cookies and refreshments… we even have a FREE GIFT for all kids 12 and under!

4. You Just Might See Some Familiar Faces: Last year’s event attracted several hundred guests. We have over 30 residents, staff and family members participating… and that’s only the people in costume! Behind the scenes, we have at least that many people running sound and lighting, setting up luminaries, serving cookies and drinks, taking pictures, directing traffic/parking, planning the event, getting cast members in and out of costumes and more! So just think: if you don’t come, they’ll ALL be disappointed!

5. Camels, Donkeys and Sheep, Oh My: In case you didn’t hear, we have real animals at our Live Nativity – between performances, kids can even interact with them! And no worries: we have trained professionals from Living Treasures Animal Park on hand.

So what are you waiting for? Clear your calendar for Sunday evening, feel free to let us know on our Facebook page and bring the whole family for a great night of fun and fellowship. If you have questions or would like more information, call Connor Hagey at 724-352-1571, ext. 8343 or message us through our Contact page.

As the world celebrates Christmas, we join together and openly proclaim the true meaning of this miraculous event. We offer thanks to God for sending his only Son, Jesus Christ. We wish you and your family a Blessed Christmas.
