The health and well-being of our patients, residents and team members is our number one priority. Despite many of the counties in which we operate beginning to re-open, per the Departments of Health, Concordia is still operating under a no visitation policy, except for patients/residents in end-of-life situations. However, those wishing to see their loved ones can schedule time with them at one of our safe visitation areas. Please call your loved one's facility for more information. Concordia Board Member to Raise Funds for Kenyan Orphans

January 3, 2012

Concordia Lutheran Ministries Board Member Jim Wolf has a heart for mission work, as evidenced by his many mission trips to South Africa and Kenya over the past five years. He's currently embarking on another visit to the country, but this time, he's got something new on the agenda?

This time, 65-year-old Jim (a lifelong Missouri Synod Lutheran) will attempt to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain. He will start the 19,340 foot ascent on January 14, with a scheduled summit on January 20. But he's not just climbing for himself; he has decided to make the ascent a fundraiser for a special mission project in Kenya called 1001 Orphans.

The 1001 Orphans project is an opportunity to reach out with Christ's love to orphans and disadvantaged children. 1001 Orphans goal is to reach 1,000 children, "plus one lost sheep." More than ten million children are orphaned by AIDS in Kenya and the number continues to grow.

Jim's goal in climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is to raise $10,000 - enough to support almost 30 orphans for an entire year. But he needs some help from those with a similar passion for helping others.

You can pledge any amount - from a penny a foot ($193.40), or perhaps a penny for every 10 feet ($19.30). Or you can simply donate an amount you feel will help these needy children. Any donation will be accepted until February 29.

He also welcomes your prayers for safety, completion of the ascent and the success of the church's ongoing mission work in Kenya.

Checks may be made payable to Concordia Lutheran Ministries Angel Tear Fund, c/o Kilimanjaro Mission Climb and sent to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, c/o Development Office, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023. Or you can simply visit the Give A Gift online donation page on the Concordia website.
