The theme of the 2013 Concordia Lutheran Ministries calendar is "Faithful Caring Our Way of Life," and each month offers a picture of a resident/patient with one of our dedicated caregivers. We thought it would be fun to tell the stories behind the models, in a series we're calling Concordia Calendar Portraits.
Concordia of Wexford is featured for the month of August. Enjoy!
"There's no place like home."
"Home is where the heart is."
"Be he a king or a peasant, he is happiest who finds peace at home."
Mary Jovonovich and her son Nick would agree with all of those famous quotes.
She has been "at home" since she moved to Concordia at Wexford two and a half years ago. Besides the food, which she loves, she says she likes this community because it "feels homey. This place is like home," she declares.
And it's obvious that her caregiver, Certified Med Tech/Nurse Aide Lorraine Passerrello, works to provide that sentiment. According to her, however, it comes naturally. "I love the residents. They always keep me on my toes and in a great mood," says Lorraine, who has been at Wexford for three years. Six years ago she became certified and chose to work with seniors.
Originally from New Castle, Lorraine and her husband of 33 years, Jeff, live in Hampton Township and have three grown children and three grandchildren. She enjoys reading, swimming and crocheting.
