The CSH Holiday Bazaar, held December 6, was a fundraiser event that included a gift basket auction, a vendor mall for residents, staff and community members to shop and more. Over 200 people attended, 20 vendor shops were represented and 16 gift baskets were auctioned. But more importantly, $3,300 was grossed for charitable care! The event was capped with a drawing for a 55-inch TV, donated by McDonald’s Appliance. Congrats to CSH Food and Beverage Employee Karen Cortes for winning the big prize!
The Haven Christmas Cantata, held December 6, was another success, as a packed house at Concordia at Cabot’s Haven I Dining Room attended. This year’s story looked at the birth of Jesus through the perspective of Joseph: his tenderness, his love and protection of Mary, his quiet humility and his obedience to God. The Chorale is made up of nearly 40 Concordia residents, community members and Concordia employees. This year’s Cantata performances were dedicated to Dr. Harold Schnaible, a resident who taught music courses at Concordia until his passing in September 2016.
Once again, the Concordia Live Nativity (held December 11) was a beautiful portrayal of the birth of Jesus – with Concordia residents contributing in many ways: narrating, decorating, icing cookies, greeting guests, singing, playing piano, acting, playing handbells, building the manger, keeping fires going for the crowd and more! Another big hit at this event, as usual, were the live animals from Living Treasures – especially that awesome camel! Special thanks to all the residents, staff and community members who made this another wonderful event. To watch a video of our Live Nativity, click here!
