Today, Concordia Lutheran Ministries acquired Sumner on Ridgewood, a continuing care retirement community located in the Akron, Ohio suburb of Copley. Now called Concordia at Sumner, the facility was built in 2003 on 64 acres and consists of 22 villas, 79 apartments, 40 assisted living beds and 48 skilled nursing beds.
"Concordia has been looking for quite some time for an opportunity to expand our mission to serve seniors outside of western Pennsylvania. Our Board of Directors believes that Sumner offers an excellent first step to accomplish that goal," stated Keith Frndak, President and CEO. "Sumner is a beautiful community with a reputation for high quality care and we look forward to serving the people of northeastern Ohio for many years."
Open house events will be held at the location, 970 Sumner Parkway in Copley, on Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18 from 1:30 4:30 p.m.
With the Sumner acquisition, Concordia operates 555 independent living units, 901 personal care or assisted living beds, 290 skilled nursing beds and 16 hospice beds. Concordia also has extensive home and community-based services including professional and private duty home care, durable medical equipment and community hospice services.
