A change of venue and theme spelled success for Concordia of the South Hills second annual fall fundraiser, "Book Your Lunch." The 170 in attendance (including two men) had an opportunity to begin their holiday shopping, as nine vendors displayed shoes, boots, handmade jewelry, homemade pretzels, clothes and kitchen items at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bethel Park.
Local talent Craig Zinger entertained the shoppers on the piano. After a delicious three-course lunch featuring the hotel's signature dessert (a caramel apple walnut cake), guests enjoyed a presentation by Mt. Lebanon author Meredith Mileti, who wrote Aftertaste (a novel in five courses). Auction winners were announced and a book signing rounded out the day's event.
Chairperson Ina Silver, Director of Community Life at Concordia of the South Hills, reported more than $6300 was raised to benefit the Concordia of the South Hills Caring Fund. Thanks to the efforts of a committee of staff and independent living residents, Concordia marks another award-winning event.
