Concordia Retirement Living Allows Pittsburgh Couple to Create A New Lifestyle

Sietz

Did you know Concordia has multiple senior care locations that offer retirement living apartments (and villas at our Sumner location in Copley, OH)? At any given time, we are serving more than 500 seniors in western PA and eastern OH in that one service line alone! And actually, by mid-September, when Highpointe at Rebecca – our newest retirement community – is open, that number will grow again.

For those unsure of what retirement living (or independent living as it’s sometimes called) services involve, it offers a worry-free lifestyle for seniors, with every convenience of home. Amenities like routine maintenance, scheduled transportation, daily events/activities and much more are included. We hear a lot of great things from our residents and their families about our services, and we wanted to take the opportunity to share one of their stories with you.

If you have a good testimonial, leave it in the comments below!

For Patti and Jack Seitz the decision to move to Concordia of the South Hills in 2015 was an easy one because it offered the care that best suited their lifestyle.

“We knew where we wanted to go,” Jack said. “We fell in love with our apartment as soon as we saw it.”

Jack’s wife, Patti, often shares with her friends how happy they are in their retirement apartment. “I always talk about how much I love it here.”

The couple has lived in many different places during their 62 years of marriage. They lived in the Pittsburgh area for many years before her job with General Electric necessitated a move to Milwaukee.

After nearly 20 years in Milwaukee, Patti and Jack came back home to Pittsburgh to be near their families, and settled in Mt. Lebanon. They bought a retirement home in Sedona, AZ, but when they realized how chilly the winter was they invested in a place near Tucson. Two years ago, however, their travel days came to a halt.

Patti’s mobility began to decline and the couple decided to move to Concordia of the South Hills so that Patti could receive the home care she needed. They found the care of the staff at Concordia is above and beyond what they expected.

“Just walk out your apartment door and you’ll run into friendly people,” Patti said.

Residents have the opportunity to be as active and involved as they want to be, she mentioned. A member of the book club and poetry writing club, she plans to join an on-site exercise class whenever she is feeling better.

“They really work hard to keep you stimulated and entertained,” Patti said.

Patti and Jack have three children and four grandchildren. Jack said that since they have transitioned to retirement living, their life has calmed down a little, giving them the opportunity to create a new bond between themselves and their family. It’s a bond that has also come to include Concordia of the South Hills.
