We had an unbelievable day filled with sunshine, great food, activities, entertainment from the Pittsburgh Doo Wop Big Band, a traditional worship service and fellowship with friends and family.
Between 700-800 residents, families, friends and community members came out to enjoy the day. In addition to the mini-fishing derby for kids, crafts, games, a caricature artist, bounce slide and live music – we went “full throttle” and hosted a car show featuring over 50 cars from Ford Model Ts to Corvettes.
The traditional worship service was led by Pastor Jack Hartman, Director of Chaplaincy at Concordia, who delivered a stirring sermon and included a 30-plus-member choir of Concordia staff, friends, family members, residents and board members who sang a hymn and the benediction for the inspirational service.
As always, we received a TON of compliments on the food and Concordia President & CEO Keith Frndak closed the event by thanking our volunteers, community, staff and board members for their continued support, and asking for prayers as the organization grows to meet the needs of residents, patients and families into the future.
This year marks the celebration of 140 years of caring for God’s people. When Concordia (originally called the Evangelical Lutheran Concordia Orphanage and Old Peoples Home) was founded in 1881 by a group of Lutheran pastors, they could have never imagined the growth the organization would be blessed with today. From Concordia’s continuum of care and activities for seniors at our locations in Western, PA, Eastern OH and Tampa, FL – to the incredible annual events held at our senior living communities – the care, events and support for our residents wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team and community members.
Although the annual festival is over, there is ALWAYS something happening at Concordia.
