The thought behind charitable giving is unquestionably different for every person. Some people prefer to give to programs that supply the most basic human needs food, clothing, shelter. Others prefer to donate to programs that enrich the lives of those in need. Others favor giving to programs that offer a certain benefit, such as exercise, entertainment or tax relief.
One thread that ties these ideas together is compassion.
And what's more, once you register for the walk through Concordia, you decide which of our various ministries you want to support by walking as an individual (to support the Good Samaritan Endowment Fund) or join a team such as the Rebecca Residence team or Concordia of the South Hills Caring Fund team. Teams such as the Good Samaritan Hospice team are raising funds for Camp Good SAM, a bereavement camp for children.
So? Feel like supporting one of the 125 residents who can no longer afford the full cost of care at Concordia? Give to the Good Samaritan Endowment Fund. Want to give a few dollars so residents from Concordia at the Orchard can enjoy a new entertainer at their next activity? Give to the Concordia at the Orchard fund. Is helping orphans in Kenya something you feel strongly about? Give to the 1001 Orphans program.
You get the idea. :)

Concordia is one of 67 organizations participating in this year's event, which started in Pittsburgh in 2003 with only eight organizations, raising $25,000. In seven years, it has grown to include over 150 nonprofit organizations throughout Pennsylvania, and has raised over $3.5 million.
